Day 30: Inspired by a Tutorial

After looking at a bunch of nail art tutorial videos on You Tube I finally decided to do these cute little Owls from Renierainyday. I went along with the colors that she used and added a couple of contrasting colored owls as accent fingers. These were so easy to do and look way cute. I will definitely be doing these again this fall.

It has been 30 Days now since I started this challenge and just now realized that it was changed to a 30 day challenge because there are only 30 days in the month.

I am such a goof. lol. Well this is it. I have completed the 31 day challenge even though it was only 30 days. I am so happy that is over now. I had fun doing a bunch of art that I been meaning to do and looking at everyone else's post was very inspirational and I will totally be motivated for the next couple of months with different thing to try.

Day 29: Inspired by the Supernatural

So, Today I decided to go with the holier side of the supernatural because in a couple of days I will be starting to do Halloween nail art for the month of October. I went with the logo NOTW also known as "Not of this world" because it's Christian and who else is more supernatural that Jesus.

NOTW is displayed in many art formats but, I decided to go with the traditional format and ad it on the top of 2 of my favorite colors, Magenta and Teal. I did the teal first then sponged the magenta on top. the teal took a little of the magenta color away and turned it into a more purple color. I still Love it though. Because the colors were kinda dark I did a white shadow on the black lettering to make it stand out more.

Colors I used:

Santee "Beach Blue"
Nina "Violet it Ride"

Day 28: Inspired by a flag

Hello, Hello

Today I was inspired by the Mexican flag. Because I am 100% Mexican, I thought that I should represent today for my people. I am American born and raised and have represented my country of the USA in many of my nail posts. So, I am glad to have this challenge today to show off my Mexicaness.

For those of you who don't know what the Mexican flag looks like here it is.

Colors I used:

Sinful colors "Snow me White", "Innocent", "Pull over"
Santee "Cappuccino"
OPI "No room for the Blues"" & "in my back pocket"
China Glaze "High Roller" & "Starboard"

Day 27: Inspired by Artwork

Hello. Today I was inspired by the Dutch artwork called "De Stijl" translated in English, "The Style"

I did this in an earlier post when I was doing the Wah Nail Art book challenge of mine. This is one of the tutorial that they had featured in their book. I had done it then with the colors that they said to use in the book. This time I wanted tot add a twist by substituting the primary colors with neon colors.

I am so happy with the way that these came out. I know summer is over but, it is still sunny in California so we are aloud to still spot some neons. I have had a few compliments on these today so, that confirms my OK to wear them.

Colors I used:
Sinful Colors "Snow me White"
Nina "Fuchsia Rage" & "Solar Flare"
Santee "Bleach Blue"
So Easy Stripe rite in Black

Day 26: Inspired by a pattern

For today I decided to go with the pattern of plaid. I love plaid and fall us the prefect season for it. I also love this color, that's why I'm using it again.

Day 25: Inspired by Fashion

Today's nail challenge is inspired by IKAT print. This pattern has been way hot this year. I love this pattern because it is so simple to do and you can get away with mess-ups. I decided to go with one of my fave color schemes. I hope you like it.

Colors I used:

Orly "Shockwave"
Nina :Violet Ride"

Day 24: Inspired by a book

Hi, Sorry for the late post. I did the green eggs and ham from the Dr. Seuss book. I have this book memorized. LOL. I also love reading it to my kids. It was pretty simple to do because the drawings in the book are a bit sketchy so the little wisps that were mistakes actually make tit look authentic.

Colors I used:

OPI "In my back Pocket"
Sinful Colors "Snow me White"
So Easy "Black" & "White"
Diamond Cosmetics Nail Art "Lime"

Day 23: Inspired by a Movie

There are two reasons why I decided to do this mani. First, my kids and I was actually watching The Hunger Games as I did my mani and typed this out, and Second I bought this GOLD polish a few weeks ago and have not used it in any of my posts yet.

I already did Hunger Games nails with the flames on tumblr but, never dis Effie's nails from the movie when she was reading the names of the contenders at the reaping. This is my replica of her mani. My Magenta didn't come out as dark as it is in real life but the gold sparkles are amazing if I say so myself.

Colors I used:
Sinful Colors "Dream on"
Real gold "22kt Gold Glitter"

Day 22: Inspired by a song

Today I was inspired by the song "Purple Rain" by Prince.
I've been wanting to do rain droplets on my nails but I just never got around to it.

First I painted my nails with a dark purple (I originally wanted to do it on black but, Purple went with today's theme) Then I added a coat of "Matte Magic". Once that was dry I got some old Seche Vite and used it to create the drops. The older SV is thicker and makes better drops that create texture. That's it!. So Simple and So Cool.

Colors I Used:

Sinful Colors :Amethyst"
China Glaze "Matte Magic"
Seche Vite Top Coat

Day 21: Inspired by a color

This will be a short post today. Sorry, no polish names. I decided to go with blue today only because tomorrow my daughter has another meet and as you know if you've read my earlier posts, the team colors are light blue and regular blue. I did today a blue glitter fade on top of a light blue.
Nuff said.

Day 20: Water Marble

OMG! I cannot believe that this actually came out good. I only have been successful ONCE with water marble. I was in such a hurry again this morning when I did this and I think that the Water Marble Gods were being nice to me because it came out AWESOME! I wasn't even gonna try to do all of my nails. I added some silver swipes which made it look really cool. I think I'm going to be trying water marble soon after the challenge. I think I'm falling in love with this technique.

Colors I used:

Finger Paints "Pretty as a Portrait"
China Glaze "Liquid Leather"
OPI "Oh Waiter"
Sinful Colors "Snow me White"
So Easy Striper in Silver

Day 19: Galaxies

This is a late Post. Yesterday was galaxies. Although I did do these in the morning, I didn't have a chance to post these. So, I went with purple and rainbowish galaxies today. The half moons had galaxies in them so I thought that I would change the color from them instead of the traditional black/blue background.
Instead of adding white dots for the stars I went with patches of chunky glitter that had small and big pieces to give it that cluster effect. It was way easier than dotting on stars and I love the way that they turned out.

Colors I used:
China Glaze "VIII"
OPI "Fly"
Sinful Colors "Innocent"
Essie "Mod Square"
Sally Hansen "Mellow Yellow"
Icing "Frost Yourself"

Day 18: Half Moon

Hello Hello. Today's Challenge is the half moon. I am not really good at doing half moons cus my lines always come out messy and I don't like the way that they look. I know I can go get some reinforcement stickers but, I always forget and I don't have any just laying around.

Anyways...

Today I wanted to try out the half moons that I was so fascinated with from The Daily Nail. Hers are totally amazing. As for mine they're just OK. I also had the idea in my head of doing a half sun on top of the clouds that I did on Day 5 : Blue Nails. This too came out just OK. I think that if I would have had a bit more time to focus on them instead of making sandwiches and grabbing socks, that they would have came out a bit better. Oh well. I love my kids.

So That's it!

Colors I used:

OPI "Oh Waiter', "Fly", & "No Room for the Blues"
Sinful Colors "Pull Over", "Soul Mate", & "Snow me White"

Day 17: Glitter

Yay Glitter! I was kinda happy for today's Challenge because what I had in mind was sticking straight to glitter. I could have added some stamping or some kind of art but no, this is what I went with.

I originally wanted to have some glitter placement designs but, I ran out of time. Having to place all of the accent nail's glitter was enough work for one morning. I had to get the kiddos off to school so, I stopped there. Glitter placement is tedious work!

I always LOVE how it comes out. So, it is well worth the work. It's unfortunate that I have to take this off tonight in order to continue with the Challenge. OH Well.

As you can see I did an indoor and outdoor shot of these because I wanted to catch how awesome the glitter sparkles. Unfortunately, I wasn't successful. These photos don't give the sparkle of the glitter any Justice.

Colors I used:

Essie "Big Spender"
Orly "Bubbly Bombshell'
Clare's "Disco"

Day 16: Tribal

OMG. The Challenge is like 1/2 way now. Today I was happy that I was able to incorporate blue into the theme because as I said in my last post 5 minutes ago , my daughter had a gymnastics meet today and the team colors are blue and light blue.

I did a gradient of 3 shades of blue and did a tribal on top of that with black and white using striped and dots.

Colors I used:

OPI "No room for the Blues"
China Glaze "Ride the Waves"
Pure Ice "French Kiss"

Day 15: Delicate

OOPS. This is another late post. I was just not in the mood to post yesterday and today I was at my daughter gymnastics meet. BTW she got 4th on beam and scored an overall of 34 and qualified for sectionals.

Anyways the only thing that I could think of as delicate was lace on a pastel color. I was gonna go with pink but, in the end went with a light plum. I looked at different pattern and tutorials online and this is what I came up with.

Colors I used:

Essie "Splash of Grenadine"
Sinful Colors "Snow me White"

Day 14: Flowers

Well hello.

It consists of a bunch of bright colors on top of a brown background. This was fun and easy and a bit different from my usual floral.

Colors I used:

Finger Paints "It Baroque"
OPI "Fly" and "In my back pocket"
Essie "Mod Square"
Sinful Colors "Innocent"
Sally Hansen " Mellow Yellow'

Day 13: Animal Print

Another Late Post. I could not decide. This was definitely a challenge. I just went with a simple leopard print.

With this post I decided to cut out the confusion of the difference between "Cheetah: and "Leopard" prints. In these picture you can plainly see the difference.

As you can see Cheetah print is a lot more of black spots with a hint of brown in between random spots.

As for the Leopard the spot are connected int more circular and C shapes with hints of orange. The majority of nail artists out there are using Leopard print in their art. I use Leopard print in my art and I have mistakenly called it cheetah print at some times. Well, Now we know.

Colors I used:

China Glaze "Desert Sun"
Nail Art by Diamond Cosmetics "Cocoa"
So Easy "Black"

Day 11: Polka Dots

So as you can see I am modeling my right hand today. I am right handed so I use my left hand to model because it always comes out 10x better. Last my pointer nail broke off  at the corner and just looks dumb so I will be using my right hand for my pics for the next few weeks.

Anyways, today for Polka Dots I recreated getnailed's design but, instead of glitter placement I used dots of glitter polish. All of the art on these nails are done in dots.

Colors I used:
China Glaze "Liquid Leather"
OPI "Fly"
Sinful Colors " Dream on" & "Snow me White"
Clare's "Glitter Top Coat"

Day 10: Gradient Nails

For today's Gradient nails I wanted to go outside of the nail box and incorporate something into a gradient. Simple flowers is what I came up with. I originally was gonna go with one primary color but, I couldn't decide. therefore, I went with an array of gradient Flowers.

I had done flowers like these in a post I did on tumblr.

Colors I used:
( In order from Thumb to Pinkie)

Essie "Mod Square"& "Big Spender"
Finger Paints "Pretty as a Portrait"
Sally Hansen "Lacy Lilac"

Day 9: Rainbow Nails

Today for Rainbow nails I wanted to recreate a design a saw a while back on tumblr. When I saw this I tried to track it back to its' source and the furthest I could find said that this was photo shopped. This had thousands of notes on it. When I went back today to try to find it, I couldn't. I googled neon leopard nail art and it came up and when I clicked on the source it didn't exist anymore.

Anyways...

All it really is is different neons with a black leopard print and a matte top coat.

Colors I used:
Ultra Pro "Fuchsia Rage" & "Solar Flare"
Sinful Colors "Dream on"
Santee "Bleach blue"
Sally Hansen "Green with envy"
Julie G "Bikini"
Ice "French Kiss"
China Glaze "Matte Magic"

Day 8: Metalic

This post is a day late... My daughter had her first gymnastics Meet of the season yesterday and when I got home I was too pooped to post.

This is what I went with cus I bought this polish a few months ago and never used it. I never really got into the magnet polishes because they were played out by the time I decided to go out and get them. It seems every brand and their mom has it now so when I went to justice for my daughter I saw a justice brand at the counter and decided to get it to give it a try.

The magnet that it came with is kinda a cross between a star burst and a flower. As you can see I wasn't very successful with this. It's OK I'm over it...

Color I used:
Justice Magnetic Polish

Day 7: Black & White Nails

Black & white, how simple is that? Not so simple when you're trying to decide what pattern to paint on your nails.

I could have gone the easy way out and could have used one of the new Bundle Monster Plates I just got but, I had to be difficult of course.

I decided to go with the "Hypno" swirl. I used it on one of my previous challenge days, Day 2 Orange. I thought that it would look awesome and I was right!

Colors I used:
Sinful Colors "Snow me white" & "Back on black"

Day 5: Blue nails

On to Day 5 of Chalkboard Nails Challenge. Today I wanted to try out these awesome cloud nails inspired by nailsbymh on Tumblr. When I first saw these I was in awe. They just looked so cool compared to all the cartoon clouds out there.

Since she didn't have a how to on this design I took on the task of creating a step by step on how I was able to achieve this affect...

Step 1
I used a medium blue in the top of my nail down to about 1/2 of my nail.

Step 2
With a lighter blue I painted the other 1/2 of my nail

Sep 3
With the darker color I sponged a cross the middle of the 2 colors to blend.

Step 4
Then I did the same with the lighter color to achieve a better blend

Step 5
Again with a piece of sponge I added white patches to create the clouds.

Step 6
With a dotting tool I used black & gray polish and semi blended it together to create the shadows in the clouds. I left a little of the polish darker to go under the gray.

And there you have It!

Colors I used:

Pure Ice "French Kiss"

OPI "No room for the Blues"

Sally Hansen "Wet Cement" & "Black Out"

Sinful Colors "Snow me White"

Day 4: Green

Day 4 of this wonderful challenge. Today's theme is "green" nails. I was looking at my nail art boad trying to figure out what to do for green.

I wanted to do frogs but, I didn't like the frogs that I had done before. So, I was looking for cartoon frog images and came across Keroppi. He is so freakin cute. I had to do him. initally I wanted to do pastel back grounds but, since this was a "green" day challenge I went with a green background...

Colors I used: Sally Hansen: green with envy China glaze: starboard Sinful colors: snow me white & soul mate So easy striper in black

Day 3: Yellow

Well it's Day 3 now of this challenge and the theme today is Yellow

Please excuse my cuticles, there are rather dry today... I'm having issues.

So, when I saw that the theme was going to be yellow the first thing that popped in my head was... Street Signs! Since they are mostly yellow I thought that this design would be great to feature today's theme.

There are so many street signs to choose from but, I went along with these.

Colors I used:

Sinful Colors pull over & ruby ruby

China Glaze starboard

Sally Hansen mellow yellow

So Easy Stripers black , white, & red

Day 2: Orange

I'm not a big fan of the color orange but when I saw that today's Challenge was the color Orange I got a little excited.

I bought this color at Clare's the other day. It's a Clare's Cosmetic Brand ant the name of the collection is "Starstruck". The color is "little dipper"

When I bought it I had the intention of using it in my Halloween nail art for next month. But, since today's challenge is Orange, I had to use it. I didn't want to pair it with colors that would make it look like fall or Halloween so I paired it with teal to make it look more like summer since summer isn't unofficially over till Tuesday.

I really like this color because of the shimmer behind it. It almost looks like a holographic in the sun. Its really pretty.

Colors I used:

Clare's: little dipper
Santee: beach blue
Sally Hansen: lickety split lime
So Easy Striper in black
